All summer long I’ve been wanting to make my own maxi dress, and I finally got everything together: the right pattern, the right materials, and the time to sew it (or borrowed time). This dress is from McCall’s 3562 from the 1970s. The pattern was fairly easy to use – I chose the size that coordinates with my bust measurement, and it had plenty of room for my hips, even though they are several sizes larger. I bought the fabric (rayon challis?) on eBay and really lucked out! The picture was so tiny, I could have been ordering something awful and not know. I was super happy when it arrived – it was exactly what I wanted. I did have some difficulty figuring out how to mark an even hem on something so long! Anyone know any tricks? I also had some trouble attaching the band around the neck. More on my blog: http://errantpear.blogspot.com

This is soooo beautiful! Great fabric – I love when the risk of buying fabric on ebay pays off! What pattern did you use?
