This drapey, Grecian-inspired dress is from a Vintage Vogue pattern. It’s a nice, deep red knit. I was inspired to do this by Casey of Elegant Musings (one of my favorite sewing bloggers!).
I didn’t follow all the instructions (been working in a theater costume department too long— I’ve gotten cocky), so Casey’s dress has a little bias strip around the neckline. I left that out and just folded it over like a facing. I kind of like it better that way though
I made this for a theater opening of a show I worked on.
Red Knit. It was a pain to work with. It kept curling up in the seam allowances-- hard to cut. However, the "stretch and sew" technique works great for machine hems. (Thanks, Mom!)

I read Casey but haven’t seen her version— I purchased this pattern because of Adey on Sew Weekly. I just randomly found knit leopaed in my stash that’ll be used for this.

This dress too is beautiful and the red knit really suits the style. Knit can be a pain but this dress was worth the pain.
