Double Twisted

Added Jul 3, 2013

by heatherrique

Southern, Califo...

Dress with lower pleated front, double twist upper bodice
This dress came from a Vogue pattern #1327 with 49-step instructions that I decreased to less than half of that due to using a knit and my modifications.

There were 13 pleats below the front bodice.

Material Notes

Rayon knit lined with some type of black lightweight mesh

You look lovely :-) You did an awesome job. Why do Vogue patterns have to be so complicated really?? I love that you reduced the steps down! You rock! Take that Vogue! LOL!

Love a houndstooth print! The bigger, the better! Very nice.

Thank you, Godsgirl! I was not too certain about using houndstooth, but it seemed to work out fine.

The twisting looks much better than in original and the choice of fabrics is winsome because unexpected for such a dress. Very nice.

Very nice. I’ve just seen a similar dress on a TV show and I was wondering where I could find a pattern. Yours is fitted so much better than the picture in Vogue. The original looks as if it’s on a hanger not on a woman.

Thank you, Camis! If you don’t mind the question, what show did you see a similar style?

I’ve seen it in “The bold and the beautiful”. I get sewing ideas from that show sometimes.
On this page you can see the dress I am talking about.
