This was a test-subject that became an “artist’s mistake” of sorts. It’s a stretchy knee-length pencil skirt I made several years ago out of some vintage fabric I had acquired somewhere along the sewing path. I was playing around with a pencil skirt pattern I had made when I got this crazy notion to add lace around the top creating a faux yoke at the waistline. I added some buttons and poof! Out came this sweet little babydoll skirt. Who knew how popular the style would become years later?? haha. I rediscovered this little gem while rummaging through my fabric stash I had left at my mom’s house. She insisted that I go through my stuff before I let her toss it – and so glad she did! To make it even better I found the perfect top to go with it while I was window shopping at the mall! The color matched the lace perfectly! My excitement at having stumbled upon this fashion fate (all in the same week too!) would not allow me to leave the store without buying it! Of course I had to add my own touch so a few white heart-shaped buttons did the trick. I will add photos of the improved version of the top later. The pencil skirt saga is to be continued…
Not sure of the exact fibers because the fabric is vintage but it feels like a cotton-poly-spandex blend

did you use a pattern? It looks like a really good fit, and i’m itching to make a pencil skirt. I’m just leery because most that I try on in stores have a horrible fit, and most patterns I see have similar shape.
