I drafted a pattern from an existing waistcoat and made this from furnishing fabric. Choosing rather glitzy buttons to finish it off.

The waistcoat is great – thanks for the tip about using furnishing fabrics. I often see remnants that I like but have been worried about using them for making clothes. I will be rethinking from now on.

Really nice work and choices. The colors and buttons remind me of St. John clothing.

Thank you for the kind comments. I still can’s decide if the background is black ( I used that colour of thread ) or very dark brown — looks great with brown anyway. Buttons however are black and gold !!

I often choose furnishing fabrics especially for men’s waistcoats – - I made my wedding suit from it too , many years ago.
