do you remember jill scott? not that she’s gone anywhere. i LOVE her. she is the inspiration for this valentine’s creation…
designer surplus leather swooning in roses. when the dress i was working on failed miserably, i turned it into a positive by coming up with a new way to fold leather and create a beautiful obli silhouette for the roxiegirls out there…

i wish i could take the credit for all the work, but i can only take about half— this is laser cut leather that i then took my scissors to for a bit more love. but i have some lovely yellow leather that i’m thinking of introducing to my x-acto blade…l

i saw some leather bags at student shows with cut-outs (well, laser, too i guess) that looked great but my own attempts looked rather unsatisfying. just now i had the insight that it would be better to fix the leather to some thin card for example, to avoid any undesired movements. i’m looking forward to see how you’re getting on with it.

That is sooooo pretty!!!! I love it when “tough” materials like leather are made “romantic”, but I don’t think I ever saw anything matching that love of mine as much as this belt does! It’s gorgeous!!!! And I hope you were not talking about this dress – it doesn’t look like a failure to me…

AAAAAAAARG! That is so freakin’ gorgeous! So much work in it! And from what I can see of the dress it doesn’t look like a complete failure, there’s some interesting neckline detail going on there… maybe the next version you’ll get it exactly how you want?

thanks emilykate! sadly, the failed dress is a toddler sized danielle… damn my cutting corners and thinking i could get away with a 34…

Its so hot. I think this is a perfect Valentine’s outfit. You should sell the dress too because I think the red dress with the black leather belt look perfect together.
