Burda Style For people who sew

Hello all! I would like to introduce you to a wonderful new summer dress of mine (as if I don’t have enough)! I just love the color purple. Many harsh colors make me, in my pale skin, look sickly; therefore I tend to gravitate towards lighter colors, like this one. I made it from an upcycled bed sheet set, with a few important modifications. Most importantly, I shorted the bodice by 3 or 4 inches…I think the original bodice would be unflattering on my body. I also lowered the neckline for a younger look, and used self-made bias tape for uniformity. Instead of a belt, I made a long sash to tie in a bow. I really wasn’t sure about the fabric, and before I hemmed it, I was sure that I had created a hideous bridesmaid’s dress! As you can see though, knocking off 12 inches can do a lot :)
