I made this dress last spring when I desperately needed more flowers in my life. Now we just happen to live in an area where there are an abundance of flowers in early spring, and they are SO YELLOW! I insist on wearing this every time I walk in them… It is the best kind of camo (and probably the only kind I’ll ever wear!!) I modeled this after a dress I saw in store that was completely out of my price range. I found an itty bitty picture of the dress in a catalogue and used it (or at least as much of it as I cold see) for inspiration. I love the neckline of the dress, initially I wanted to embroider on it with white thread, but I think the lines of it make it stand out enough. The buttons are my favorite color that I just had to incorporate somehow… Oh how I love buttons!!!
My main dress fabric was found in the basement of my in-laws wrapped around a TV… although formerly a sheet I sensed that it saw itself as something more (since it draped itself very stylishly over that TV) and I couldn’t rest until I turned it into something I could wear! (hmmm… I wonder if I ever washed it?…hmmm)
The only bad thing about wearing other people’s sheets is when they (my brother in law) come up to you and say, “wow! great dress. I can’t place it, but I think I’ve seen that fabric before…” : )
The lining is organic unbleached cotton.
