Description
Based loosely on BHLDN’s Yarrow-In-Flower dress, which is a ridiculous $350 and dry clean only and too short for my taste. I made my own lace top and yellow skirt (versatile separates!) for $7, from washable materials, so I’m pretty happy, even if my version doesn’t look quite as upscale as the original. The top was traced from a favorite tee, and the skirt is just a gathered rectangle. I used a thrifted bedsheet, so I was able to take advantage of the already existing deep hem.

I agree with everyone else, your version is better than the original. The silhouette is more flattering, I love the volume in the skirt and the color is lovely. I’m so inspired to just sit down and make a skirt now :)

Thanks! Yeah, I felt the original looked sadly deflated…

Me too! Yours has better proportions and a more flattering silhouette.
Also, if something costs $350 and has to be dry-cleaned, you’d expect it to be made of silk, not a rayon-nylon-polyester-plastic-asbestos blend.

Thank you! And yes, for $350 that dress had better be silk! Seriously, toss the word “wedding” in, and suddenly prices are astronomical.
