This was a joint project between my mom and me. She made the bag itself (from a McCall’s pattern, I think) and I made the cross-stitch applique—my first successful one. The cross-stitch pattern came from an ’80s booklet of patterns, and I loved this one because it reminded me of the Pennsylvania Dutch Distelfink. This bag was one of the presents we gave to my grandmother for her recent milestone birthday—read about it on my blog.
linen, cotton lining, cording (for handles), Aida cloth, embroidery floss
