Dip Dyeing Evening Wear

Added Mar 24, 2010

by crstylestudio

Woodbridge , New...

I started out with crème Silk Chiffon. For the bodice I dyed the navy color so that it could be contestant through the whole garment. For the skirt I Dip dyed the Navy then Yellow into orange. Then I painted on the greens and some blues in the yellow and orange sections.
This was so rewarding to create fabric pattern/print and then the garment. WOW!!! I think it is a work of art, what do you think?
I wore to a wedding in LA.

Material Notes

Silk Chiffon
Rit Fabric dye in your colors ( i use liquid)

Garment Type
Bridal, Evening Wear, Ethnic

Lovely dress! I’m thinking of making something similar, so it’s nice to see where the dip dyeing concept took you. Nice job.

I have been dying to dye silk! You look gorgeous. The colours are so deliciously rich. The blue is great with the ambiguous tone of blue/black.

    What dye did you use?
