i made leggings out of digital photo fabric about a year ago, and guess what? i wore them on that day when i fell off my bike, and managed to rip the left knee part. well, i could always sew it back, i suppose, but i wore them that day because i noticed that digital photo printed clothes are all the hype these days. i saw lots of cool skirts made out of digi-photo printed cotton fabrics, and suddenly i wanted one!
so i had to make one, naturally.
it’s a cotton satin fabric with a bit of elastane, and i just love the 60s photo print! i used Burda pattern no. 7577, the same one i used for the bottom part of the Dim Sum dress
i made the skirt end just where the slit part is supposed to be, which is like 15 cm shorter than the original pattern.
80 cm of printed cotton satin with a bit of stretch,
25 cm zipper,
1 pair of hook & eye closure.

omg I love that fabric! Was it easy for you to find digital photo fabric? cause so far I have not seen it at any of my local stores.

i actually work at a fabric store, but even so i rarely see any digi-photo fabrics… until this time :D
however, if you happen to see any fabric stores for curtains or other interior stuffs, i think you might find it easier there. the store i work at has both home & clothing fabrics, and the home dept. has digi-photo fabrics more often than the clothing dept., as they are mainly for curtains (NYC sceneries, London sceneries, you name it!). if you don’t mind making clothes out of fabrics that are meant for curtains or cushion covers, then i’m sure you’ll find them there :)
hope that helps!

If you’re handy with Photoshop or have a friend who can help, you can also use some of your own photos/photos of your city and print out a panel of fabric through spoonflower.com. (I’ve been thinking about this!)
