I used the Burda Style pattern 8235 (Diana Bag) to make this messenger bag, and I think it turned out great, considering I’m still a novice sewer. The outside is made from a khaki twill fabric, and the lining is a pretty light blue floral printed cotton fabric. I added a pocket in the lining fabric for my cell phone. To liven up the front, I ironed on a blue flocked applique in the shape of a bird on a branch. Sorry for the terrible photos due to resizing to fit the 400 pixel requirement.
