Replica of a lace print dress from the D&G Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The dress is made out of heavy black guipure lace over off white silk duchess satin, and fully lined in silk charmeuse. My sister-in-law doesn’t want to wear a petticoat, but still wants the fullness, so I underlined the dress in silk organza and added horse hair tape to the hem. I cut the lace to create the scalloped bottom. In order to make the lace look like it’s part of the satin material, I hand appliqued the whole scalloped edge and hand tacked the lace throughout the whole bodice and skirt.
