Tulip Skirt from Jenny Gordy’s pattern in Stitch Magazine (more details and errata here).
The tulip skirt is done, and I love how it turned out. It’s comfortable, flattering and I like the details. It was fun to sew, too, because there were several new-to-me things (like plackets) to make it interesting, but overall the pattern was very simple and easy to follow. I especially like the tie at the waist, and the higher waistband. I usually wear skirts around my hips, so this feels very smart and grown up. And there was no zipper, which is fabulous, because zippers are my #1 most commonly botched sewing thing.
Denim from Spotlight. Red Gutermann topstitching thread. Wooden buttons (vintage) from the button shop in The Rocks, Sydney.

Hey I love your skirt. I have also started making it. I’m up to joining the skirt to the waist band – did you find that you had a lot of extra fabric on the waistband after you took the pleats in? Any help appreciated ;0)

I love the colour of denim you chose and the contrasting red thread. I’m just finishing this skirt (currently buttenholing, argh!) in a lighter denim, but I’m afraid I like yours a tiny bit better!

This is great as well! Can you come and sew up my summer wardrobe please! I have a 2.5 year old toddler who won’t let me near the machine!
