I figured it was about time I delved into the ‘otherside’ of sewing..menswear! My husband asked if I would make him a shirt so we found McCalls M6044 which he liked, especially the version that resembled a cowboy shirt.
This is made using a lightweight denim which has a slight stretch, for the contrasting yokes & collar I used black cotton. There are buttons on either cuff as well as 3 on the collar, the buttonholes for which are stitched in red (his idea, not mine!), and the front fasteners are pearlised snaps, which are also on the pocket flaps, and the cuffs again.
I have to say it was quite fun sewing something a little different, and was nice to try out some different techniques.
