Description

I made the double breasted Talea with some alterations. I added a skirt, shortened the sleeves, left out the pockets (I didn’t have enough fabric after the skirt) and took in the shoulders. This is my first coat and I definitely made a lot of mistakes, but I am happy with the way it turned out.

Material Notes

Wal-Mart tapestry fabric of dubious quality.

    I LOVE this coat, you did a fantastic job. I also love Wal-mart fabric since I can buy a lot of it for cheap and not feel so bad about stashing it.

    oh! i love coats and i especially like the skirt part on yours, and i havent seen tapestry fabrics in ages! im about to make my own talea or alden coat soon. fingers crossed!!

    WOW, that is a coat! It looks great! Absolutely love everything about it! The fabric seems to me like some upholstery fabric? Really stylish :)

    Congratulations on a very dressy coat. I’d wear it all the time, if I had that fabric. Our Walmart no longer carries fabrics, but the earlier buyers bought some terrific silks and woolens, most in suit weight or heavier. Too bad they ignore the sewing consumers, today. Nehmah
