This project is based on the Full Moon top from Tomoko Nakamichi’s book, Pattern Magic Stretch Fabrics.
I used a plisse fabric, which I thought might add an interesting dimension to the piece, which is essentially a bubble top. It’s difficult to capture the top’s construction with these photos, but imagine a moon tilting on its axis. The “equator” actually stretches diagonally around the top.
Next time I would also fiddle with the placement of the neck and arm holes. Overall, it was a fun first-time Pattern Magic project. I’m looking forward to more experimentation with these books!
