Based on Weekend Designer’s Sweet Camie top (http://wkdesigner.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/sweet-camie). I cut the bottom half of the top off just to give it an empire line waist, created a sightly flared skirt to extend down to my knees and added a gathered tier at the very bottom just to give it something extra to balance out the top.
Unlike the Sweet Camie I’ve created slightly wider straps that are fixed length and stitched into place (these hide my bra straps properly). The back top of the bodice is gathered using elastic. Only the front is gathered using the “spaghetti strap” idea from the Sweet Camie project.
The empire waist is gathered using elastic and this is what gives the dress shape. I’ve washed and worn this a lot (as you can see from the photos!) It’s also the only dress in my wardrobe that I can lend to my sister and her waist measurement is significantly larger than my own.
Unknown very light fabric somewhat like cheesecloth. Black print on charcoal.
