Description

I’ve always wanted to make this Danielle dress : it’s the first pattern I got from burdastyle, and I love it. But I never found the right fabric… Until a month a go, I came across that lovely… something… (I don’t know any name of material, sorry! )

I was afraid it would look like an apron (vertical stripes…), but it doesn’t! The shape is very feminine, and the closure is a little low, but not too much : I can still wear it anywhere.

I used one stripe from the material for the belt, because I thought plain black would look too sharp. And of course I added pockets :D this is the best part of sewing dresses and skirts ^^

I used this sticky tape for the facing, and it’s fantastic ! It stays totally in place, I don’t know why I never thought of it before !

Material Notes

Invisible zipper, thing for sticky hems.

Wow, just stumbled acroos this dress! I absolutely love it! What a great fabric choice! This is one of my favourite patterns too. I made it some time ago… just never got around to post it. But it didn’t turn out so great and photogenic! :) Tumbs up for all your work!

I keep coming back to this dress. I absolutely adore it. It’s my very favourite of all the Danielle’s of seen (including the two I have made myself!!! This fabric is just wonderful, and the single-stripe waistband adds just the right amount of contrast without being overpowering. You did a great job lining up the stripes on the bodice and skirt pieces too.

      Thank you very much :)
For the waistband, it was a lucky chance, I didn’t plan on making that but it just happened while I was sewing… Just like sometimes you make mistakes that look fantastic in the end!

That was probably the luckiest chance you could have made, in that case. None of the other stripes would have looked as polished. I love those serendipity moments, few and far between though they are.

Yes, I’ve noticed that almost everyone made it sleeveles,, but I thinkt the sleeves really compliment the empire waist and make the whole thing look different!
And they’re not as difficult as they look ;)

The fabric you used is fantastic, and I love the sleeves! I’ve made two Danielles now (both sleeveless), but I think I may give the sleeves a try now!

      Thank you!
Yes, mediterrannean weather is the best… But actually I do wear a coat outside!
I used Hem Tape for the facing.

Gorgeous! I love the way you worked the stripes matching top to bottom and off centering the black stripe so you are not cut in half. I am still waiting for the perfect piece of fabric for the Danielle. Oh, and adding pockets…brilliant! :)
