Description

♫ ♪ Danger! High Voltage

I have already mentioned in one of my projects how I started sewing my outfits for archaeological fieldwork.. This very short dress I’ve made last year and it was my favorite of the season.. I used pattern #122, from Burda 04/2010.. It is simple loose dress with drawstring to give it a shape.. The fabric was find from the remnant bin.. I also had some leftovers of the fabric with owl print which I used for drawstring and bias tapes.. All those details were main reason why I really love this dress.. I added pockets for my pens, cell phone, walkie-talkie and every other little thing I could need while working..

There’s more photos on my blog..

I like your dress… noticed that the pattern is for stretch fabric. Did you need to modify the pattern for woven fabric? I would like to make one but I don’t like to sew with jersey.

thank you :) I didn’t make any modifications.. I used the pattern as if it was for woven fabrics :) It’s easier to sew button closure and other details.. Now when I think about the pattern, I probably missed the part that it was for stretch fabrics :D I don’t like reading the instructions ;)

Great dress and I like these additional other fabrics. Makes it look very special. I have to keep this pattern in my mind.

thanks :) I guess I used the smallest size, 17.. It’s the size I always use for Burda patterns (17 or 34).. The dress has a loose fit, so it’s hard to go wrong with woven fabric.. I did make it shorter as usual, and that’s why I forget to mention it every time :)

I had to laugh when I read your title, this was a hit with a funny video a long time ago,… But its a nice dress (all tough much more modest than the video), I think it would be nice to make one for my daughter!

I thought safari jackets and shorts or pants were archaeological uniforms, ledjitea! Pockets are always a good idea on clothing.

maybe with some old school archaeologists they are, but with me it’s only fun and practical :) if I’m in color it’s easier for students and colleagues to find me ;)
