Description
This dress took FOREVER to make, ok well maybe not forever, but longer then I would have liked. Very detailed, piping, boning. It’s lined and also has a separate foundation that requires more lining… I bought piping (2-pkgs), on the pattern it shows piping you make. The pattern runs large, I had to take it in which I rarely have to do with Vogue. It’s a new pattern- Cynthia Steffe Vogue #1174

The dress looks lovely! And I like the fabric. (At least I’d better, because I bought the exact same fabric last weekend! How was it to work with?)

The fabric frays like crazy. I did a lot of serging, other then that it’s easy to work with. Are you making this dress out of the same fabric? I just thought the fabric was perfect for this pattern.

I’m not making this pattern— I’m going to be using it for Simplicity 2359 (a maxi-dress.) It looked like a good print and amount of drape for a longer skirt too. So it’ll be interesting to compare that to the more tailored style of your dress. (Once I get it done, since I have a couple of other things in the queue that I’ll probably need to make first…)

Outstanding show! So well tailored and crisp. It has this wonderful 1950’s grace and the material just adds to the classic beauty. Great job!!

To be honest I like yours better than Vogue’s own. You did a fabulous job and the choice of fabric and print was very wise. I’ve got to say that I’ve almost bought this pattern several times now, but there’s something in the way the model is standing or something, that I give up on the idea each time – lol. I will buy it now that I’ve seen your project. I hope you’re REALLY REALLY proud. Thank you for sharing it with us. :-)

I have this pattern too, I hope I didn’t buy it too large now that you say it runs large, oh well, well see. Yours is fabulous and great fabric choice!

The fabric is heavier, it has a texture to it in (like a jacquard). I bought it at Joann fabric.

Stunning! This is one I’m also planning to make for our summer (seems a long way away right now…) You’ve done a magnificent job. The contrasting black piping is a beautiful touch.

I have seen lots of bloggers put this pattern on their wish list but this is the first one I have seen made up. I love the fabric you chose. Is it comfortable to wear?
