Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Looking through my new spring-summer wardrobe I noticed that I am lacking a basic simple dress that may be worn with various accessories and be suitable for different occasions. The March issue of Burdastyle magazine features a perfect pattern for my scope: I am in love with round neckline and the shape of the darts in bodice and skirt.
I made some alterations for better fitting in the waist and in side seams. I’ve found the round neckline too deep for my taste, so I added 2 cm all around it.

WOW, you are so elegant and then I saw you are from Italy, the land of fashion and it makes it even better. I am going to make this dress with a vintage Broderie Anglaise, from a Geiger skirt my grand-mother baught in Austria years ago. This is fantastic! The fit looks perfect, and I am struggling with that right now. Do you have any suggestions for resources to find out how to get that perfect fit for our projects?

Thank you, lamabelle. I always measure the pattern and compare with my actual waist and hip measurements before cutting the fabric. I have an hourglass shape, so for 38 Burda size my usual alterations are to take 3-4 cm in wais and add 1 cm in hips.
