I made a skirt out of a dress my mother bought me. The dress had nice features (lace trims, pintucks etc.), but it looked really matronly on me and was too big. I´m not good enought at sewing to fix it, so I made this simple skirt instead. And I´m really into skirts these days.
I put two rows of elastic in the waist and that was it. Bonus: there were already two in-seam pockets :).
It reminds me of a folk costume a bit and is perfect for a summer in the village!
Dress it down for a work in the garden with a scarf and and an apron (tea towel… :). Dress it up with a shawl for a Frida Kahlo effortless chic when going out!
In some photos it looks pink, but it´s a beautiful shade of deep red. I love the pintucks and lace insert on the bottom.
too big cotton dress, elastic for the waist

Thank you! This is really not at all special and I felt a bit silly posting this, but I wanted to make some fun with the clothes :).

Good Job!! I have no idea why mothers like to buy dresses or other items they would like for themselves and impose them on their daughters.

Thanks! The dress looked good on a hanger and was reaally cheap. I may also use the bodice some day for some children clothes :).
