I was attending an award show for different fields of design through my job as graphic designer. I knew I was going to enter the stage to receive my first design award, so I wanted a new dress for the occasion. And what better way to get one, than making it myself?
“Are you really going to make something from this?!”, my boyfriend exclaimed when pulling out the yellow fabric. Actually I was planning to use something totally different, but now, obviously, I had no choice! Therefor I ended up making this crazy yellow dress for the award show, and when you are surrounded by other designers, there are bound to be comments.
The dress is based on a fully lined Vogue pattern. I added the draping to make it more interesting, did a couple of changes in the bodice both front and back, and made my own version at the bottom of the skirt.

this is really beautiful— as some people mentioned previously, a pattern, tutorial, or even a youtube vid with a little visual explanation of your mods to the pattern would be greatly welcomed!

Thank you!
I based the dress on a Vogue pattern, V8241 (

Thank you!
If I remember correctly, I bought it at Sheik’s Fashion in Oslo. There are so many different stores that sells fabric in the same area, so I tend to get them confused :-S.

Thanks :-)
Well, basically i used a vogue pattern as a starting point (V8241), and added the asymmetrical draping as I cut it. Also I changed the neck line, as well as the hemming of the skirt. It is probably easier using a taylor doll, but one do the best of what one have i guess :-)

Tusen takk! Tar resten på engelsk. Håper det går bra.
I get my inspiration from all over I guess. I keep a book where I select inspiration, from magazines, web and photos. Usually when I see something I like, I tend to add or remove something, or merge it with something else I´ve been inspired by to make my own version of it. Also I have some designers and style icons I like to pa attention to :-).
