This is a pair of corduroy pants I made — the bottom of a suit, eventually — combining a basic self-drafted pants pattern and pieces of McCall’s 7637, a mens suit pattern from the early Eighties. This is the first pair of dress pants I’ve made and I’m pleased with the result. I even wore them to my 30th high school reunion last weekend!
More about the pants on my blog, Male Pattern Boldness: http://malepatternboldness.blogspot.com/2010/09/peters-self-drafted-corduroy-pants.html
I used cotton corduroy I bought in the garment district in NYC. I also used commercial waistband interfacing i found at Sil Thread on 38th St.

These pants really look immaculate. Perfect details and very nicely crafted and the color is absolutely fantastic.

Wow, look at that welt pocket, such clean work. Love it when men wear bright colors and your smile is just catching!

Very nice, the back pocket is Awesome! What do you call that hem technique? Hope you had fun at your reunion – did people comment on your trousers? Did you tell them that you made them? I have my 20th high school reunion soon and feel like making something to wear to that.

That’s a hem finished with seam binding — it’s used for fabrics that tend to ravel (or fray). Yes, I showed everyone my trousers — they couldn’t believe I’d made them!
Enjoy your reunion!
