I wanted to try Ichigogirls Cowl dress/Cowl top pattern ever since it was uploaded. Last week, finally I got around to making it. I feel stupid now for not trying earlier (I had shied away from grading…). It was a very easy and quick project.
The fabric is a very light and drapey viscose/lycra jersey knit. That makes it perfect as a dress for summer and a tunic/pullover for winter.
I’m usually wearing a size 38 at the top and 40-42 at the hips. Therefore I had to add about 10 cm (4 Inches) around the hips and about 2 cm (not quite 1 Inch) around the bust. Then I just pinned to my body.
I’m definitely going to make this pattern again. In a sturdier sweater fabric maybe? We’ll see.
The title of the project comes from the fact that there was another cowl dress project posted today.

I’ve never made anything with a cowl before. Is it difficult? And can you explain to me what a ‘jersey knit’ exactly is?

Sorry for answering so late! The pattern is not difficult at all. There are only 4 seams plus the hem. See here for a definition of jersey: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_knit
The difficult thing about this pattern is the fabric, which tends to stretch while sewing, resulting in wobbly seams. I hope that helps!

You look so happy in your dress. Makes me want to try the pattern. I love that shade of purple. Great job!

Another great version of this pattern. I have made the cowl neck top for myself & a friend. I have also extended the pattern to make a maxi dress.
