I was needing a dress for a meal out and decided to keep it simple by creating this cowl neck, sleeveless dress.
I used the Burdastyle pattern Cowl Dress 10/2012 #118A. I mostly followed the pattern but made it sleeveless and because I was using a jersey material I did not add a zip. I created armhole facings to finish it off properly. It was a jersey fabric so I adjusted the machine for jersey so I didn’t need to use the stretch needles (thank goodness it worked as I never had any stretch needles in the house, so would have delayed my sewing!)
I tend to stay away from patterned fabric (I must try to overcome this in 2014) so I added a sparkly belt just to dress it up a little.
I was pleased with the finished result.
Jersey – viscose and elastane mix.
Twists on feminine classics, like a bold patterned shift dress and pants with a racing stripe.
