Cover for Royce Chair

Removable cover with envelope closure for a Royce folding chair from World Market. The original cover was khaki-colored cotton with a 1" flange.

Finished cover is 30″ × 42″.

31 × 43 (front)
31 × 20 (back top)
31 × 34 (back bottom)
7 × 25 (pocket, cut 2)
6 × 3″ tapering to 2" at top (pocket sides); cut 4 total, two slanting to left and two slanting to right

Front piece is 31 × 43 (1/2" seam allowance).

Assemble pockets: align 6" edge of pocket side with 7" side of long pocket piece with rst and bottoms aligned. Sew from bottom for 5.5". Fold long piece over 90 degrees and line up with short edge of pocket side. Sew seam. Repeat on opposite side. Hem 0.5" on bottom edge and fold over 3/8" on top and sides.

Back: top = 31 × 20, fold bottom over 1/2", them make 1" hem, sew 1/8" from each edge
bottom = 31 × 34, fold top over and hem same as top piece.
Attach pockets: pin pockets to bottom pieces 3" from edge and top stitch 1/8" from edge of pocket.
With top (shorter) piece on top, overlap by 6" and baste together. Finished back should be 31 × 45 (slightly longer than front).

Make piping and apply to right side of front with 1/2" seam allowance

Attach back with right sides together and 1/2" seam allowance
