Description

This dress is made from Vogue 8511 pattern cut out in a size 14 and then taken in all over to approximate a size 12 (I’d forgotten to factor in the fact that my material was a jersey!).

The pattern has you line the bodice but not the skirt – I didn’t do either and it doesn’t seem to need it, but I guess that’s due to the fabric. It could do with a slip or half-slip being worn under to stop the skirt clinging to stockings though.

This is a really straightforward dress to make, it doesn’t take a great deal of fabric, and if you make it in a jersey it doesn’t need a zip – which makes it even easier. I find it’s a really good dress to have in the wardrobe for those cold days when you’re running late and need to slip something on quickly that doesn’t need ironing or coordinating etc. It’s suitable for work but could also be good casual.
