Description

I’m making corsets for my roommates, adapting a base pattern in a Jean Hunnisett book. They’re really great girls, who were kind enough to accept a stranger from craigslist into their apartment when they needed a third roommate and I needed a roof over my head. So I’m making them some cool costume-type corsets. I’ve only ever made a corset from this pattern once before, and I had alot of help with that one. Here’s hoping they turn out okay.
EDIT — Corset pieces are sewn together. Next, I need to measure them on the girls one last time. Which is an okay delay, because my Brother sewing machine has started squeaking. I’ve had it for three years, and this is the first time it’s shown any sign of needing to be oiled or cleaned. o.0

EDIT — Corsets finished months ago, received rave reviews. No pictures, as my camera was acting up at the time. I think next time I post about a sewing project, it’ll be after the project is done, and photographed. : )

Material Notes

For the back/support fabric I used some twill I had lying around. For my roommate M’s Corset I used a polyester print fabric. For my roommate K, I used a scrap of black suede and the remnants of a blue polyester/silk blend shirt I had lying around.

Berengiere – maybe (as a quick fix) until you’re able to sucessfully upload your pics to the Burdastyle website you could load them into a Flikr.com / Photobucket.com / Picasa album & post the link to the album into the Description for your project :) ?

If I find the time, that does sound like a good idea. Thank you! : )

Thanks! I actually tried to post pictures of the corset pieces, but my computer kept timing out when I tried to post the project. It only went through when I put up one picture instead of four. Does this website tend to make it difficult to post lots of pictures at once?

I’ve had a lot of trouble getting pictures to upload as well. I’ve only had success when I close all the other tabs I have open and just leave it to upload and I usually get a few error messages and have to tell it to try again a few times before it works. So while I’ve done a lot of sewing since joining the site I’ve only put 2 projects up- too much computer stress!
