This is my very first post on this site. I am not brilliant with the computer but learnt today how to down load photos from my camera. I made this top several weeks ago using Burda Magazine—July,2011 #113. I made a couple of adjustments, making both sleeves and neckline equal. It was relatively easy to make, although the instructions for an alternative neckline finish were hard to understand and I could not tell from the photo how it should be. I have been using Burda magazine patterns for 35 years and have a fair idea how things should be done but not this time.

The top suits you. Nice job. It’s interesting how we sometimes encounter something on a pattern that we can’t figure out, even after years of experience. It’s happened to me too!

It seems to happen a bit more these days and it may not be the pattern!!! Thank-you for your lovely comments. I have been sewing a bit lately but need my son to pop over and take some photos.

Thanks cmetzel, I am a bit partial to red and floral fabrics. Once I can get someone to take photos of me in my latest creations, you will see a bit more red and more florals.

Your blouse looks fantastic! The cotton and delicate patterns make it a romantic look. I’ve also sewn. You can do it to a model Galery add, if you are editing points out that the model is so similar to mine

Thank-you for your comments and for pointing me in the direction of your beautiful version of the same pattern. I can now see how the alternate neckline can be achieved and I will try again on pretty piece of silk that I bought this week. I am going to add the rose definitely after seeing your top. I love your work and you are certainly inspiring me; thank-you again.

From my perspective your version is perfect as it is wit the bow. The rose isn’t necessary…

Thank-you Binita for your comments. Yes, it does make you think of spring and being made in fine cotton lawn it is very cool. It is very warm and humid in Brisbane during the summer, so this top and the others like it I plan to sew will be perfect.

That is really cute and the color looks great on you!!!! Great Job!!
Agree on some of the instructions in the magazines, they lack proper information.

Thank-you for your comments. It was a trial top and I am now going to make another one in a beautiful silk that I have just purchased. This time I am going to add the rose as per pattern and once again try and decipher the instructions for the alternate neckline as it does look so pretty in the magazine.

This is a pretty blouse! I love all things floral and that bow adds a touch of sweetness!

Thank-you also for your comments. If the rose doesn’t look right on the next top, I will definitely add the bow or some other pretty feature. I too love all things floral and once I photograph my latest creations you will see more floral tops. I can’t help myself in a fabric shop when I see a pretty floral.
