Los Angeles, Cal...
I have had this fabric since the late 1990’s when I worked in the textile industry & I never knew what to create with it until this year that I see a lot of Palm tree prints, tropical, etc. on trend along with the jumpsuit trend still going strong, so I thought if I don’t take advantage of this trend I will never make anything out of this fabric. I used an old McCall’s pattern #5371 view C with the following alterations:
- Made the bottom narrower by taking out about 2” from both front and back pieces
- Added 2” to the length – but I wish I added a little more because it’s a bit short, so, if I want to wear it with high heels, I will have to gather it at the bottom just above my ankle, which is ok, it will give it a different look.
- I made the top smaller about ¼’ on each seam
I am pretty happy with it, I just need to purchase a wide belt and then I HAVE to take a trip to Vegas :))
This is a Rayon and I used the self for lining as well since I only needed it for the top & I had extra fabric.
Material suggestions: Soft cottons and blends, Challis, Damask, Medium weight linen, Crepe
