Based on the Hot Hot Heat Dress by Marry, I used her tutorial on making the bodice, instead of the new Maryy pattern since I enjoy working without a pattern. The skirt didn’t come out quite how I wanted because the cotton sateen I used was a little too stiff, but I like it anyway. It should get a lot of wear to spring dinner parties next year, hence the name ;-).
Remnant printed cotton for the bodice and a dusty rose colored cotton sateen for the skirt. Used some buttons leftover from another project for closure. The dress cost less then $4 to make!

Mine has the button closure in the center back of the bodice. But you could definitely do a zipper in the back or at the side. I would also recommend using a lighter weight fabric for the skirt then I did, it will be easier to gather and it would have better drape.
