Description

My husband is a big bowtie fan. He even shops fabric stores on his lunch break looking for nice fabrics. I used the David pattern with a slight modification. I reduced the width on the band and opted not to interface that piece so that it would be thin enough when I used the hook and slide combo. Now, I make these for gifts and I don’t have to worry about knowing the persons neck size. This way also works because my husband doesn’t know how to tie a bow tie so I can tie it for him and he only has to hook it on his neck and adjust; however, if he undoes the tie then he’s out of luck until I tie it again.:-)

@simnstyle — Thanks for the complement. I agree that finding silk is difficult (and expensive) which is why I just use regular cotton that you can find in any fabric store. Here’s my little secret too - when I’m not buying fabric online I buy a good portion of it at Walmart (shh) on the clearance aisle of the fabric section. Sometimes I luck out and get it for $1$2 a yard. There is always a great variety of patterns and colors in cotton. Thanks again and have a great day!

Great job! I love making bow ties too, but finding fabric is challenging. This is really cute!
