Description

This dress was made from multiple different pieces, all put together using Burda Style #111 as my pattern. A one yard cut of “Comma Dotted” satin was the dress top’s fashion fabric, remnants of broadcloth for the placket and collar, leftover lining for the insides, and a store bought pleated skirt for the dress bottom. In lieu of an invisible button placket, I went with what worked and made mine into a hook-and-eye invisible closure – I love it! The bottom skirt was bought several sizes too big so it could fit on the bottom half and also save me from the impossible job of finding a source for mechanical pleating. Nice and clever dress! Make sure to take a look at the bottom of the BurdaStyle.com homepage this week. :)

Nice dress. What a clever idea to use a store bought pleated skirt for the bottom.
