I’ve made a few pairs of pants before and been planning to make more for a while, but to be honest, they scare me. Especially the fly. I wanted to make a pair of colourful skinnyish cords. I found this fabric a few years ago at an op shop, so it was the perfect choice.
I used Simplicity’s Amazing Fit 1696, and the pattern really is amazing – it has slim, average, and curvy fit for different hip and bum sizes. I used the slim fit, and the cut is really good. I narrowed the fit of the legs a bit, and I think when I make them again I need to bring the waistband in just a little bit, but I think they’re the best pair of pants I’ve made. And the fly went together much better than the last time I did one!
