Burda Style For people who sew
Description
A pretty dress for my pretty friend Gloriana. She needed a long dress to attend a wedding and fell in love with this Vera Wang coral gown, we used it as inspiration and simplified the lines. She is very happy with the results and that makes me so glad :)
I used Burda pattern 107 December 2008 as a base and worked the ruching on a dress form.
Material Notes
The dress is made of silk duchess satin and silk chiffon.

Can you tell me how you did the zipper? Did you put it in and then just tack the ruching, or did you fit the dress on the dressform without the zipper and then put the zipper in? I’m doing a similar design and I’m trying to figure out the best way to do it. :) Thanks!

Hello wedishstyckning, first I made the bias-cut chiffon ruching on the dress form and held it in place with a zillion hand stitches, then I fitted the dress on my friend , chalk marked the exact placement of the zipper and sew it in position.
Make sure you are using a good quality invisible zipper, even though the chiffon doesn’t add much bulk, it still makes it a little harder to pull up and down the zipper and its “head” could break off.
