This is the latest dress that I made for my September Mash Up, and it turned out better than I had hoped for! I love the way my color blocked pieces looked together once sewn, but figuring it all out and making sure I cut my pieces the right way was a little tricky (let’s just say I had some recuts to do). For this dress I used our lovely Knotted Dress pattern, where I only altered the hem length and front extension width. Instead of making a ‘knot’ on the front of the dress, I decided I wanted to make it into a wrap style and add a little hardware. I loved this industrial buckle I found and thought it would make the dress look a little edgier (and more Meg like).
This dress is meant to be sewn in a knit fabric, so I used black and forest green stretch jersey. The fabric store called this Barcelona jersey, and I loved the weight and feel of it. It was so soft and just stretchy enough. I would give this pattern a 10 out of 10! I sewed this in a size 40 for myself, and I didn’t have to do any fitting alterations afterwards except the hem length because I am petite. I love the way this dress hugs my curves and I know I will get a ton of wear out of it this Fall/Winter season.
