Brooklyn, New Yo...
This dress is based on the Burda Tunic Dress (02/2012). I gave myself the challenge to create something fun from a stash of double-knits that I purchased online for a song.
I loved this tunic dress pattern but didn’t have enough black fabric, so I decided to color block it. I’m glad I did. I think the color-blocking adds a sporty quality to the dress. It’s very easy to wear, but not too “comfortable” looking at the same time. :)
Since I was using double-knit (instead of silk crepe as instructed in the pattern), I realized I didn’t need a zipper. This was my first time sewing in-seam pockets… the pattern instructions were definitely not for the uninitiated. I consulted a few other resources before diving in. Still not perfect, but now I have a dress with pockets!
