Description

I made this dress to wear to my college interviews! I wanted something that was a little formal, but not too stiff.

I used the pattern V1265 by Pamella Roland. It’s a “loose-fitting” suitdress with a collar/lapel, cap sleeves, side zipper, and a really big flared, pleated ruffle in the back!

I had to take in this dress a lot (at least 1/2 inch on each side, plus more in the bust and center back). After looking at runway pictures, I think that the pattern was drafted to be loose, but I think this design is much more flattering well-fitted. For more on the fitting of this design, see my fitting blog post !

I’m really happy with the way it turned out! For more pictures of the final garment, check out my blog, It’s Not Bragging if You Made It !

Material Notes

The exterior fabric is (I think) a suit-weight wool-rayon blend. It’s black with a purple pinstripe. I used purple silk dupioni for lining.
