I’m in love with this simple shell tank top! I like that it can be a stand along top or become a chemise to wear until a smart jacket. I made this for my mom and it looked great on her! This pattern is so perfect for beginners and super satisfying for those of us with more skills. I want to try different fabrics so that I can get more comfortable with them. I’ve been experimenting with knits lately and I also wonder if I can use a knit on this… we shall see.

Material Notes

Fun cotton prints. Beginners will like that you can use store-bought bias tape, but I like to make my own now, so I like having that option.

I think with knits, it would look great with the pleat inverted (sew the pleat from the inside and spread, as opposed to outside as described in the instructions), I see a lot of people making the top with way and think it would drape nicely in a knit…

That’s a great idea… I’m going to try that, too!

Yay! it’s such a great pattern. I’m so glad you think this would work in knits, too. :)
