This was a wearable muslin for the new Colette Patterns shift dress pattern. I also entered it into the competition they were running.
I made versions 1,2 & 3 (4 is a top version) and drafted a peter-pan collar and cap sleeves (the pattern has drapey elbow-length sleeves).
The pattern has bust and back darts.
I acsessorised it with a broach inherited from my Nanny on the lapel as a necklace would have detracted from the neck-line.

The shell fabric is a very light-weight satin with a slightly off-vertical raggedy-edged stripe; I’m not sure about the fiber content. The stripe was horizontal, but I turned it 90o to give me a vertical stripe. The dress is interlined with muslin and lined with a Pierre Balmain remnant (apparently hidden in a Berlin warehouse for the last 30 years!). The sleeves and collar are a black raw silk.
