I made it! This dress was frustrating for me – not because of the dress or the pattern or the fabric but because my machine was unbalanced. I had to readjust the needle bar height before I realized what was going on. Threads would snap every few inches and I started losing sewing confidence. But in the end even with all the threads and the trouble… it’s on the inside and nobody can see it except me. In any case I know more about how a sewing machine works now.
Also I didn’t line up the sides exactly with the side zipper… oops. I never paid much attention before as I’ve only use side zippers in dresses with no contrast fabrics. Lesson learned, next time I will make sure to align them correctly.
The dress is a bit too short for me (knees are a no no here) but I still enjoyed making it, especially the practice with a lining.

Beautiful dress, regarding the short-ness, perhaps you could make a contrasting colour slip that is a suitable length and wear that underneath? It seems a shame for such a pretty dress to go unworn!

thanks! i think i’ll save this dress for trips to the capital – in major cities i can get away with shorter length clothing.
