Colette Ceylon AKA Dress with 16 handmade buttonholes

Added Dec 27, 2012

Ouidah, Benin

Finally! The dress quickly came together, but I am using a straight stitch only machine, so my only option for buttonholes were to do them by hand. I did dread making them, but in reality they aren’t too bad.

I also visited a sewing supply shop to have the fabric covered buttons made as I don’t have a machine for that.

I love this dress, especially with contrast pieces for the yokes and sleeves.

I wrote more on my sewing blog: http://cathywu.com/journal/treadling/2012/12/27/colette-ceylon/
