Description

This is based on the coffee date dress pattern. I haven’t sewn in a while so it was a rocky start, but I’m generally pleased with the results. I was pretty sure that if I went for the ruffle it would look like I’d stapled a pile of trash to my neck, so I went with big pockets (because things with pockets are better than things without pockets). They have pleats and piping, both of which win cute points.

A few things about the pattern that threw me:
-no seam allowances (I WAY over compensated and ended up making the dress about 2 sizes too big)
-sewing all the top pieces THEN sewing all bottom pieces, then putting in a zipper. I think it would be easier to sew all front pieces, all back pieces, then put a zipper in the seam in the side.

Yay, first dress of 2011!

Material Notes
