Description

this chanel-inspired costume has been made, using for the jacket a pattern from Kwiksew 3258 and a vintage 1980 burda pattern for the skirt 7215. the costume is made in a wool-silk boucle and the lining is silk. i used a vintage pure wool trimming in off-white and matching vintage patterns.

i loved doing this project, as the pattern have been both easy to follow and the result has been better, than i expected. as soon as i can, i will add pix with the lady, i have done it for……

Material Notes

color-mix with red, cream, orange, pink in wool-silk boucle
rose-green changeant silk for the lining
offwhite trimming and buttons (both vintage)

I want one too! Looks absolutely adorable! And the pink silk for lining is just the right touch. As soon my sewing skills are better and i find a pattern and right fabric, i will myself one too :)

It looks great. Hasn’t mademoiselle inspired us all… Just wondering though, did you use any of those special Chanel tailoring methods as well? I know the book ‘Couture Sewing Techniques’ by Clare Schaefer describes them. It’s all about quilting the lining to the outer fabric before you sew the jacket together and things like that. I can see you didn’t do the ‘official’ kind of Chanel sleeve vents, but yours look lovely anyway.

hi lauriana! unfortunatly, i did not had this book, but i liked the kwiksew jacket a lot and tried my very best to make the details as “couture-made” as possible. on this ensemble, i worked hours and hours by hand, to complete it the way it is now! thank you very much for your comment!
