Description

Half-completed coat lined with yellow oriental-print satin. I’m going to hand sew the sleeve lining. One of the flaps is slightly crooked and not as rounded at the other side, so it needs to be fixed.

Material Notes

Shell: Sueded microfibre and lots of jacket-weight fusible interfacing. The fabric alone is a bit too soft for a coat but it was the only decent shade of camel beige available at the time.

    Thanks for all your encouraging comments! To answer your questions, the coat will be knee length and the back doesn’t have a vent. The pattern, Simplicity 4084, isn’t difficult to sew but it takes a long time and I don’t recommend it (it looks like an A-line coat but is actually box-shaped). I made a few adjustments but I suspect it’s still going to be too loose. I haven’t made a belt yet.

    Looks very good. Is there a vent in the back? Will you use a belt wearing your coat? Love the collar and that you are using a DB pattern! Very hot these days (if you look at the fashions shows in Paris, London and Rome). How long will your coat be?

    this is beautiful! i seems like it was an easy pattern, true? i’m looking for a simple pattern for a coat (i know- yeah right!) but all ican find are ones with 10 pattern pieces. blech. also, i love the color!

    Thanks. I wanted a light trench coat for iffy weather so I decided to make this a few months ago. It’s taking a long time because there were a lot of pattern alterations before I started sewing. I actually fixed the crooked flap just before I saw your comment.
