You know how there’s like, ‘coaster people’? My man Simon and I are not coaster people, weren’t raised in coaster houses. But my sister and her fella most definitely are. I’m always getting reamed when I go over there. I’ll heedlessly put my mug or wineglass down on one of their midcentury teak coffee-tables, and all hell breaks loose: there’s an eardrum-obliterating shriek from the Jen as she disgustedly frisbees a tiny bakelite disc at my forehead while her boo, the K Man, screams “You don’t RESPECT WOOD!” Ah, I’m making them sound insaaaane! Because they are.
They’re also my favourite people in the world, and the tables are pretty damn sweet- those two got mad ebay skillz. So when I was trying to get my crafty mojo back with a small project, I thought of coasters for the little dorks.
This was the first one, but it’s too big! It has to become a teapot-rest instead. But I will go ahead and make more, smaller ones. Because if I can have any influence over what ricochets off my eyelid next time I go over there, I’d really rather it were quilted.

Can’t really grasp the ‘sociological’ coaster effect , would it be something similar to a ‘cottage’ effect? In term of coast, I am definetly a ‘south of the river-er(Thames)’

LOL, I enjoyed reading your story behind the coasters. Great idea for using up scraps!

:-D Harhar… These look very good, a great combination of colours and fabrics! Anyhow, I don´t know if I would like to have them thrown at my forehead…
