Description

A bag made from an old curtain bought in a second hand shop. I wanted to make a bag similar to the traditional full-grain leather bags, which teachers often use, – just with fabric as material – and if possible, also climate friendly.
I used 4 layers of fabric for each part of the bag, and made the bottom out of leather (to make it more resistant to dirt and water).
It´s difficult to explain how I did, but I can tell, that I sewed the 4 layer of fabric together on my machine, and sewed the pieces together by hand (very difficult and hard – won´t do that again!).

I used the measures from a bag from the label “decadent”

Material Notes

An old curtain, sackcloth, leather, bias binding, brodery thread.

i love the colours in this bag. and its such a good idea for upcyling and the shape is fantastic. i know how you feel about handstitching. bags always need a handstitched part.

    well done!

Hey, I am from Copenhagen too! Love your bag! How do you make the handles, the way they attach to the bag? Can you buy the handles like this somewhere? Where?

      Hi Susanne.
Thanks :). I folded the leather pieces and stitched it on my machine. In the end of eacch piece I´ve cutted it in the shape of a triangle. Don´t really know how to explain it – I just tried… ;)

I love this! I have a similar bag, but much simpler :). Mine is more like a shopping bag, but similar colors. I wish I had curtain like that :).
